File Submission

beginning of content:

Use the bulk registration tool to upload a file with your student information and we’ll mail labels to your schools.

Go to bulk registration.

Step 1: Get Access

To participate in bulk registration, you’ll need:

  • A College Board professional account. Account Help includes info about sign in, passwords, and access codes.
  • A bulk registration access code. Access codes are emailed to designated staff a few days before bulk registration opens.

Step 2: Prepare Files

Your registration files must be in Microsoft Excel (XLS) or comma-delimited (CSV) format. Use the files below to learn how to format your files properly.

Keep these pointers in mind:

  • If you're registering students for more than one test, you can upload their data in a single registration file.
  • Double-check your data before you upload your file. We’ll make sure your file is formatted correctly, but we can’t check the accuracy of your data.
  • Your file’s first row must have the exact same column headers that appear in the template for your file type.

Step 3: Upload Files

Follow the directions in the bulk registration tool for uploading your file. Typically, files can be uploaded starting 6–8 weeks before testing begins.

To get labels early so you'll have more time for preadministration activities, choose the first registration window specified in the bulk registration timelines. If you would like to submit student registrations for multiple administrations, e.g., if your test dates are October 10 for the PSAT/NMSQT and September 26 for PSAT 8/9, you should use window 1 (submit by Aug 30 to receive labels by September 13).

Once your file has been uploaded, the system will confirm that it’s formatted correctly and includes data for all required fields.

Validation can take up to an hour, but is often faster. Your dashboard will indicate whether the file passed or failed validation and identify any problems.

If you need to make corrections, upload a full replacement file or edit individual student records. If you need to add students, upload an add-on file.

Step 4: Submit Files

After the file is validated, click Submit. Uploading a file isn't the same as submitting it—and we can't process unsubmitted files.
