In this part of the test you will hear several spoken selections. They will not be printed in your test book. You will hear them only once. After each selection you will be asked one or more questions about what you have just heard. These questions, with four possible answers, are printed in your test book. Select the best answer to each question from among the four choices.
The script you see here is provided as supplemental information, but would not be available in an actual test.

What is the man's opinion?
Teamwork is more important than winning.
Appreciation should be shown to the team.
The radio station has good announcers.
The airport is getting too crowded.
The woman reacts to the man's reminder that the basketball team is returning this evening by posing a rhetorical question: "They lost the game yesterday, didn't they?" The man responds by saying . (That's why we have all the more reason to go out there), adding later ? (Don't you think as many people as possible should be out there to give the team our encouragement?) Getting many people involved to show support is definitely synonymous with showing appreciation, as the man implies, particularly when they lose a game. So the correct answer is (B) Appreciation should be shown to the team. (A) Teamwork is more important than winning cannot be correct because there is no mention of the importance of teamwork. Similarly, there is no reference to "announcers" in the conversation although the woman works at a broadcasting station. Finally, the airport is mentioned only as the place of the team's arrival. Consequently, neither (C) nor (D) can be right.
