Apply to Become a Test Center

Please note the following testing calendars are in effect:

  • United States: Test centers will test on paper and pencil through December 2023. Beginning in March 2024, test centers will test digitally.
  • International: Test centers will test digitally beginning in March 2023.

Before You Start

To open as a test center, you need a six-digit, Level II College Board school code, or a four-digit College Board school code if you are a higher education institution. If your institution doesn't have a six-digit Level II College Board school code, you can request one online here. Please be advised that all applications must be submitted via the online portal. If there are any further questions or concerns regarding the application, please email ETS Code Control at codecontrolcb@ets.org. The review process for a College Board school code takes approximately 10 business days

  • If your SAT test center was closed for one academic year and you want to reopen, update information, or add a new test coordinator:

  • If you want to administer the SAT on a weekday:

Application Timing

You can expect to hear whether your application was approved within 4–6 weeks of your application submission date.

SAT test centers that closed for only one academic year and want to reopen, update information, or add a new test coordinator should contact Test Administration Services at 800-257-5123 or tas@ets.org instead of submitting this form.

Since you responded that your location is an existing SAT test center that has administered the SAT in the past two academic years, please contact Test Administration Services at 800-257-5123 or tas@ets.org to reopen.

  • Please apply at least three months before the earliest administration date requested.
  • The SAT Program reviews requests for the current school year through February, and for the next school year starting in March.


  • Test dates are posted here: Domestic and International
  • Please apply at least three months before the earliest administration date requested.

  • If your religion doesn't allow for testing on Saturdays, you can apply to become a Sunday test center. Sunday test centers are only available to students unable to take the SAT on Saturday due to religious reasons.
  • Sunday testing isn’t available in India or Pakistan.

  • Testing capacity is the number of seats you can provide for each test administration.
  • Minimum capacity to open is 25 seats in most instances.
  • Maximum capacity for new test centers is 250. This can be increased after you have offered your first SAT administration.
