Scholarships and Recognition

beginning of content:

The SAT Suite of Assessments connects students to programs that recognize academic excellence and award college scholarships.

Scores from the PSAT/NMSQT are also used to identify candidates for the National Merit® Scholarship Program. Scores from the PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 10 are used to identify candidates for the College Board Recognition Program and other programs.

The College Board has increased access to millions in combined annual awards for low-income and minority students through partnerships with scholarship providers, complementing our work with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to remove barriers to college and career success for students across the country.

Students who take the SAT, the PSAT/NMSQT, and the PSAT 10 can opt in to Student Search Service® to make their names and information available to scholarship programs as well as colleges.

Scores from the PSAT 8/9 are not used by any scholarship or recognition programs.
