If you have a documented disability, you may request testing accommodations from the College Board. Some available accommodations are extended time, extra and extended breaks, and reading and seeing accommodations.
Approval Not Required for PSAT 8/9
You don’t need College Board approval to take the PSAT 8/9 with accommodations. If you need a nonstandard test format (such as large-type or Braille test books), your school must order these before the ordering deadline.
Approval Required for Other College Board Tests
The PSAT 8/9 is the only test in the SAT Suite of Assessments that you can take using accommodations without College Board approval. Tests that require College Board approval for accommodations include but are not limited to the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and AP Exams.
To get the full benefit of the PSAT 8/9, students should use the accommodations that:
- Are similar to accommodations they currently use to complete schoolwork or take state tests
- Meet College Board Services for Students with Disabilities guidelines
