To sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 just get in touch with a local school.

How to Get Started

Find and contact a local school that’s giving the test you want to take. Go to School Search.

Ask for the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide or the PSAT 10 Student Guide, which includes a free practice test.

Start Early

Contact the school early. Our advice: Reach out at least four months before the test.

Find Out if You Can Test for Free

You might qualify for a PSAT/NMSQT fee waiver if:

Ask the counselor at the school where you'll be taking the test if you qualify to take the PSAT/NMSQT for free.

Fee waivers are not given out for the PSAT 10.

Testing with Accommodations

Students with disabilities must have College Board approval to take the PSAT/NMSQT or the PSAT 10 with accommodations. It can take up to seven weeks, so make your request early.

If you already have College Board approval, let the school know right away so that they have time to order accommodated test materials if you need them.
