Are you taking the SAT outside the United States and U.S. territories or commonwealths? You might have to meet additional requirements to register for or to take the test.

Most policies for U.S. SAT takers also apply to international students. Learn about the policies that apply to all SAT takers.

Requirements by Country

Telephone reregistration, waitlist status requests, and test center changes are not permitted.

Online registration is now permitted.

The only acceptable forms of identification are a valid:

  • Current national ID of the country in which the test center is located
  • Current passport

No other identification is accepted for entrance to the test center.

A national ID is only valid in the country of issuance. If you travel to another country to test, you have to provide a passport as identification.

Available tests and test dates for the 2016-2017 academic year:

  • October: SAT only
  • November: SAT Subject Tests in Literature, Biology E/M, Chemistry, Physics, Math 1, Math 2, US History, World History and all Language with Listening exams. No other language SAT Subject Tests will be offered on this date. SAT will not be offered on this date. (You may not see the World History test as an option at registration, but you will have the ability to choose to take it on test day.)
  • December: SAT only
  • May: SAT only
  • June: SAT and SAT Subject Tests in Literature, Biology E/M, Chemistry, Physics, Math 1, Math 2, US History, World History, French, Spanish, German, Modern Hebrew, Latin and Italian. All language exams are reading only. No Language with Listening exams will be offered on this date.

Please note that when you register, you may see all globally available test dates showing as available for both SAT and SAT Subject Tests; however, you should only select a test type and test date combination that is offered in your area in order to see and choose from available test centers.

Most students can change from the SAT to SAT with Essay (or vice versa) on the day of the test if materials are available at the test center. This option is not available at the Asia World Expo test center and other HKEAA test centers.
