SAT Fee Waivers

If you're eligible for a fee waiver, you can take the SAT for free and get other benefits.

Getting a Fee Waiver

If you think you're eligible, talk to your school counselor about getting a fee waiver code or request a fee waiver directly from College Board.

If you choose to request a fee waiver directly from College Board, please:

  • Review the eligibility criteria.
  • Be mindful of registration deadlines and apply for fee waivers early so you can apply those benefits in a timely manner.
  • Be prepared to share the contact information of an adult who can verify your eligibility.
  • Talk to your school counselor if you have questions about the process.

Do you meet the eligibility criteria? If so, you can request a fee waiver directly from the College Board. By making sure you meet the eligibility criteria, it ensures we can continue to offer this benefit efficiently for qualified students. Providing false information about your eligibility for a fee waiver may ban you from taking future College Board assessments (including without limitation the SAT, Advanced Placement (AP) and CLEP Exams).

Homeschooled Students

If you're homeschooled, you can request a fee waiver directly from College Board. You may also contact a local high school counselor to receive a fee waiver code, but you must provide proof of your eligibility (i.e., tax records or proof of enrollment in an aid program).
